Palladium favorite, Bob Seeley, on the bill at New Orleans’ legendary “Piano Night”

I got to New Orleans just before Jazz Fest and saw the posters for the annual WWOZ Piano Night show, which happens at the House of Blues between the two festival weekends.

Bob Seeley

I was thrilled to see a name that all our Palladium audiences are familiar with – Bob Seeley, the star of our annual Boogie Woogie Blues Piano Stomp. And I was sorry I was headed home before the show.

The 80-something boogie master was sharing the bill with some of my favorite New Orleans pianists – Jon Cleary,  Marcia Ball, Ellis Marsalis , Henry Gray,  Davell Crawford,  Tom McDermott and Joe Krown (who has also played out Boogie Stomp.). It was the 30th anniversary of Piano Night, so it was a particular honor to be on that bill.

Bob had to miss our last Stomp show because he was touring Europe and playing in Paris the night of our show. But he’ll be back in 2019 and he’ll also be making a special appearance that I’m not ready to announce just yet.

Stay tuned!
