Guitarist Daniel Giron brings mix of flamenco, classical and jazz to the Palladium stage Friday.

I first heard Daniel Giron at a private party in South Tampa last year and he really caught my attention. He’s the kind of player who makes you want to stop talking and listen – even in a party setting.

So I’m very excited that Daniel will be in concert this Friday at the Palladium. He’s releasing a new album, called Prisma. And he’s bringing a full band and a vocalist to share the stage with him.

Tickets are selling very briskly for his show – so I advise you not to wait to get your seats. You can call our box office at 727-822-3590 or follow this link for online tickets and information.

I caught up with Daniel this week and we talked about the show and the new album:

PalladiumPaul: Tell me a little about this new album. What can we expect to hear?

Daniel Giron: The album is Spanish guitar, but my music is a mix of all the music I love – jazz, classical, flamenco, all mixed together. So it’s a little of all that. The album has seven original compositions and two from other composers.

PalladiumPaul: Is the album just you on guitar or did you use a band?

DG:  We did the album with a full band – and I’ll have a full band on stage with me on Friday night.  My band is drums, bass, keyboards, trumpet, cello, percussion and my guitar. Along with seven musicians we’ll have an amazing Cuban singer – Alina Izquierdo – joining us for a few songs.

PalladiumPaul: You don’t normally play with such a large band, right?

DG: I normally play with just a percussionist. I never had a band that big playing my music. I’ve played with large bands, but not doing my music. I am really excited about this.

PalladiumPaul: I see from your bio that you grew up in Colombia. How long have you lived in the U.S.?

DG: I’ve been 13 years in the U.S. And working as a musician all that time. At the beginning – especially the  first year – it was kind of hard. But after a year I was teaching and playing. And now I’m just playing.

As I said, we’re excited that Daniel is coming to our theater. Come hear what all the excitement is about this Friday night at the Palladium.
