See local pop royalty – Ditchflowers, Connelly, Wilcox, Robinson – and get a FREE CD on Aug. 16

I hope you’ll join us Saturday August 16 for a very special show featuring five of St. Petersburg’s best bands: Steve Connelly & The Lesser Gods, The Ditchflowers, Ricky Wilcox & The Moonsnakes, Ed Woltil & The Loaded Question and Steve Robinson.

This show marks the return of both The Ditchflowers and Connelly’s band to the stage after long hiatuses. And with Connelly & Co. and ex-bandmate Steve Robinson on the same bill, this is as close as we’re likely to get to a reunion of the legendary Tampa Bay band The Headlights any time soon.

St. Petersburg’s Sunshine Drenchy Records artist roster reads like a Who’s Who of Pinellas pop-rock royalty. And to help celebrate their first-ever record label showcase, each ticket-holder will receive a FREE CD from the Sunshine Drenchy record catalogue!

Here’s the lineup:

Steve Connelly and the Lesser Gods
Creative Loafing has called Connelly “the premier guitarist in Tampa Bay for the past thirty years.” The Lesser Gods showcase Connelly’s searing guitar against lyrically incisive roots-rock anthems.

Ed Woltil

Ed Woltil

The Ditchflowers
Frontman Brian Merrill and award-winning songwriter Ed Woltil spearhead an all-star art-pop lineup to craft what critic Eric Snider has dubbed “exquisite…sweet timeless pop.”

Ricky Wilcox and the Moonsnakes
Former member of legendary Deloris Telescope, Wilcox blends power-pop, soul and 80’s British pub-rock influences to serve up an infectiously tuneful stew. WMNF’s Duncan Strauss called Wilcox’s Last Day on Planet Earth CD “loaded with one irresistible melody after another.”

Ed Woltil and the Loaded Question
Pennyblack Music called Woltil’s new Paper Boats CD “the perfect pop album.” Acoustic pop combo The Loaded Question brings Woltil’s melodies to life balancing delicacy and dynamism.

Steve Robinson
Former Roger McGuinn sideman, and voice of Florida’s folk-rockers, The Headlights, Robinson’s beguiling songs carry echoes of his native England. Of Robinson’s Undercurrent CD, Uncut magazine wrote that “every cut is a crystalline gem.”
