Multer and Moretti – plus our Palladium Chamber Players – wrap up the 2015 chamber season Wednesday evening

Friends tell me I have a great job – being around music and great musicians and getting paid for it. Today, I think they are probably right.

chamber2014-events-121814I’m working in my office but also listening to a rehearsal of the Palladium Chamber Players – the notes wafting down from the stage over my head.

The players – Jeff Multer, Jeewon Park, Ed Arron and Danielle Farina along with guest artist Amy Schwartz Moretti – are working on  Dvořák while I’m working on this blog item. It’s a nice backdrop.

The season has been a hit and Wednesday night it wraps up with a final program that’s all-Antonin Dvořák. The pairing of Multer – the current Florida Orchestra concertmaster – and Moretti – the former concert master and a much beloved player in this area – is generating lots of excitement.

If you haven’t heard any of the previous concerts, I thought this snippet from a review by Tampa Bay Times critic, John Carter, would give you a flavor for what we’re doing:

“Make no mistake about it, the Palladium Chamber Players are outstanding. The concert I attended in March featured world-famous violinist James Ehnes, who joined them to perform the Chausson Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet.

“But as equally stunning as Ehnes’ performance was that of pianist Jeewon Park, a core member of the ensemble. There was nothing simple about the piano part, and Park did it all with mesmerizing expression. The audible sighs of the woman sitting next to me about sums it up.

“Multer, concertmaster of the Florida Orchestra, started the chamber ensemble because he saw a need for more intimate and accessible musical experiences in the bay area. Violist Danielle Farina and cellist Edward Arron, who round out the quartet, both fly in from New York along with Park.

“There’s not a weak link in the group. If you went to both of the concerts so far, you heard each of the players featured in a piece for a subset of the ensemble.”

There are still tickets remaining for Wednesday night’s final concert. It starts at 7:30. Call 727 822-3590 or visit our box office online for tickets.
