Check the musical pedigrees on the guys from Phil’s Juke Joint – they play the Side Door Saturday

Just in the years I’ve been running the Palladium, I’ve seen the caliber of musical talent in Tampa Bay grow exponentially. One prime example is the band that we are bringing in Saturday night that performs as  “Phil’s Juke Joint.”

These guys are stellar players, with national and international resumes, who call our area home. Band members have played, toured and recorded with folks like Arturo Sandoval, Blood Sweat and Tears, Spyro Gyra, Richard Elliott, Mindi Abair, Diane Schuur, Barry Manilow, Doc Severinsen, and Engleburt Humperdinck!

And I’m not even including the featured vocalist, Gisele Jackson, a former Ray Charles “Raylette.” I’ll be posting my interview with Gisele tomorrow.

Saturday’s show features tunes by Chaka Kahn, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd,  The Beatles, Steely Dan, Rodgers & Hart, Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck and even some ’70’s TV themes!
